A look back at 2018

Its 2019! Wow sounds weird.

To celebrate we thought we would share some of our favourite projects from 2018. Looking back it was a fantastic year full of learning and pushing our skills to the limits. Here is three projects that stood out for us!

Boost Bitcoin

We worked with our friends from Boost "the juice company from Down under " to create this explainer animation for their Bitcoin campaign. We helped develop the concept, visual style, storyboards and animated the entire promo within a 2 week period. Using social hacking we played on the popularity of crypto currencies to gain maximum exposure online. We developed cute fruit characters to heighten appeal and brand recognition. The campaign imediately gained over 50k views in the first few hours of posting. We used humour in the animation and script to make the campaign memorable while still getting across the message clearly.

Invent awards

Catalyst Inc approached Doublejump to help craft all the video sequences for the Invent awards 2018. We were challenged with creating something that would make the audiences feel like they are at one of the biggest events in Northern Ireland. We wanted to create something epic in scale with production quality similar to talent shows on national tv.

We filmed the applicants as they battled it out through 3 tiers of live pitching throughout the year. The final 12 finalists were then filmed at Titanic Pump House, set against the amazing industrial atmosphere. We used slow motion cameras and gimbals to create the epic walking shots.

We combined our footage with some 3d elements from Cinema 4d. We created these assets from scratch in house and integrated them with the existing Invent brand to create something completely new and different. Of course we needed a suitably epic track to really make it special. With some snappy editing and a clear eye for detail we managed to create an amazing intro that raised the roof of the Waterfront hall on the night.

Skunkworks Crowdfunding video

We were asked by Skunkworks Surf Co. to help create a super engaging crowdfunding video that would keep people watching, get across the tone of the brand, educate them on the product and convince them to part from their cash for a piece of the equity pie.

We worked with their team to come up with a pitch that was full of creativity and visual quirks. Filmed in just one day we captured action on the beach , surf in the waves , a tour of their factory and hitched a ride on a forklift. Our motion graphics team helped turn their proposition into something really eye catching and memorable.

The ultimate test of any crowdfunding video is to get the concept across to the viewer in a way that is easy to understand and gives them a good sense of the company and whats on offer.  It worked! We helped Skunkworks surpass their goal of £350,000 and in just 8 hours they had raised £500,000 to help their business grow.

This project highlights how a good creative concept executed well can have real business benefits. We're sure the guys at Skunkworks would agree!
